With 11 private foundations, donors expressed personal philanthropic interests, although some didn’t. Our operating model is designed to prioritize named interests, “layer” common interests, “overlay” demographic and geographic interests, create nonprofit wealth through endowments, and leverage timing-specific and grant-type incentive opportunities.

Walter and Juliet Absolon retired to Tucson in 1960 from New York. Walter, a well-respected attorney, graduated from Fordham Law School.

Lillian Calistri was raised in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, where she taught Home Economics at the local high school. She retired to Tucson and became very involved with her church.

Martin and Hildegard Gluck immigrated from Germany to the United States at the start of World War II. Martin was a physician and Hildegard was his nurse.

Roy F. Graesser was head of the Math Department at the University of Arizona for 21 years. He and his wife, Lois, were involved with many activities at the University, including the Music Department.

George Mason and Lois C. Green retired to Tucson in 1960 from Kentucky, where he was an insurance industry executive. The Greens were very philanthropic in the Tucson community.

Ashby and Florence Lohse were well known in Tucson. Ashby was a Tucson native and a graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law. They were both highly active in community organizations.
